Coeur d'Alene workshop with Alex Krebs:

Friday, Feb 26           Eagles’ Lodge, Coeur d’Alene (address on next page), Basement

7:00 – 8:00 pm Tango Fundamentals I:  Posture and Walking.   Vitally important for learning and progressing in tango, these skills are crucial to master because they form the basis of all succeeding movement.  This class introduces less experienced dancers to the basic individual movements and serves as an important review for more experienced dancers and those who teach or who desire to teach.  (Suitable for all levels)

8:15 – 9:15 Tango Fundamentals II:  Connection with the Floor, the Music and your Partner.  You may have heard it said, “it’s all about connection”, and this is particularly true in tango.  Good dancers are grounded with the floor, able to translate the music into pleasing movements, and offer their partners a comfortable yet secure embrace even though the movements and dancing styles may change.  (Suitable for all levels)

9:15 – 10:00      Practica.  Alex will be available for questions.

Saturday, Feb 27         Eagles’ Lodge (Please be prompt for classes), Upstairs Ballroom

2:00 - 3:15 pm       Musicality I.  Musicality is what breathes life into tango. This class will

review basic tango rhythms.  Here, we will learn how to listen for the different elements which make up tango.  Please bring pencil and paper as this will be mostly discussion although there will be some dancing as well.    (Suitable for all levels)

3:30 - 4:45           Musicality II. This is a continuation of the first musicality class with emphasis on understanding some of the intricate tango rhythms and possible movements which harmonize with the music.  (Suitable for intermediates and above)

5:15 – 6:15      Musicality III.  A continuation of Musicality II.  The elements of musicality will be combined showing how the melody and movement dynamics orchestrate together.  Alex will select several composers and show how the same movement can be used in a variety of ways.  Suitable for intermediates and above)

            Evening                Eagles’ Lodge, Upstairs Ballroom

9.00 – 9:45 pm        Absolute Beginner Class with Local Instructors

Introduce family and friends to tango!  Walking to the beat, rocking, changing direction.  Even if you think you have two left feet, you’ll have fun and feel that it isn’t that hard after all.

9:45 – 12:00              Milonga (social dance) with Alex DJing

Sunday, Feb 28            Eagles’ Lodge (Please be prompt for classes), Upstairs Ballroom

2:00 – 3:15 pm  Vals I.  Want to win a lady’s heart?  Learn to vals, Man!  This class will review the special rhythms and phrasing of vals.  Simple yet elegant steps can be very alluring to your partner, and this class will introduce several steps that may send her into tango nirvana.  And followers, Alex will explain supple, rounded, and musical movements which will show you at your best.       (Suitable for all levels)

3:30 – 4:45 Vals II.  A continuation of Vals I, this class will emphasize turns and the kinesthetic, “Flow”, of the vals. This class will build your vals vocabulary and show you how other common tango steps can be incorporated into the vals. (Suitable for intermediates and above)

5:45 – 6:15        Vals III.  Putting it all together.  This class will pull together the knowledge gained from the first two classes and disclose a vals secret:  when small turns are combined, it is possible to transform them into a delightful infinity.  Alex will also provide options that are in harmony with different orchestras.  (Suitable for intermediates and above)
